Note: I intended to post this yesterday, on the ACTUAL anniversary of my blog. However, my web host decided a good anniversary present to me would be to interrupt service because, even though I updated my credit card and address, they were apparently not prepared to deal with that. So, moving on...
One year ago YESTERday, I stayed up all night trying to figure out how this internet thing works, and then posted a hastily written, vague indication that maybe I might be back to write some more, about some things, some time.
I started writing here just after my daughter turned one. I can't believe all the changes that we've made as a family in that year: I went to Guam. Lillia learned the alphabet. And the sounds that each letter makes. And how to count to 20. We also welcomed three new little girls into the world: Presly Elizabeth, Pearl Alexis, and Harlinn Brielle.
The biggest change of all, however, was The Big Move. We put our townhouse in Anchorage on the market; searched, day in and day out, for a new house; sold the townhouse; and finally bought a new house in Eagle River with a big back yard. The process consumed a very large part of our year. I would like to apologize because it also, sadly, consumed a very large amount of space on this website. Sorry 'bout that.
Luckily, I managed to keep track of many of the changes in Lillia here as well. She has grown so much. Sometimes I'm afraid that all the new wonderful things she's doing will erase my memories of all the wonderful things she used to do. Without this blog I might have forgotten things like how she used to kiss us with her tongue sticking out and that time she woke up and told me all about her sweet dreams. But I realize that each and every day, she is becoming more and more herself - more the person she will be.
And having this record of how that person came to be is really quite a lovely thing.
